Typical Equipment Costs of Public Television Station

This section provides equipment guidelines for a basic production and transmission capability for a typical public television station with PBS satellite interconnect. This listing has been updated to include digital equipment that stations will require for conversion to digital broadcasting. Applicants should also refer to the List of Eligible and Ineligible Equipment . Grantees should be able to purchase digital capable transmission systems within these pricing guidelines. The final budget should be determined on the basis of an engineering study for the digital total power output (TPO) allocation and coverage of the area desired. Pricing does NOT reflect the following: Costs of land, buildings, power installation to transmitter building meter panel output, generators, air conditioning, renovation, and other facilities expenditures that are ineligible under the PTFP.
