Turn your Headlights On to be seen...Campaign launched today until 12 August

Drivers are being urged to turn their headlights on in Western NSW to reduce the risk of being involved in a crash particularly in poor weather conditions. Transport for NSW is running the Headlights On campaign to promote vehicle visibility during the day and improve road safety on the Great Western, Mid Western and Mitchell Highways. “In 2011, over 70 per cent of crashes occurred on these highways during daylight, dusk and dawn while 40 per cent of crashes occurred during rain, fog or low light conditions,” a Transport for NSW spokesperson said. “The use of headlights during the day can increase vehicle visibility and allow oncoming vehicles and pedestrians more time to avoid a collision or contact with another vehicle. “By simply switching on your headlights during the day, the risk of being involved in a crash is reduced by up to 10 per cent. “Motorists driving along t...
