VTA responds to Labor taxi policy announcement

A sensible balance Posted on 13 Nov 2014 The Victorian Taxi Association (VTA) welcomes Labor's taxi policy announcement in the lead up to the Victorian State Election. "The announcement strikes a sensible balance - from a customer and an industry perspective it will address some of the less derisible aspects of the recent reforms, such as issues about pricing in country areas" said VTA CEO David Samuel. "The removal of the sunset clause also enables the Government to prevent potentially excessive numbers of taxis from oversupplying the market and clogging up our roads, while at the same retaining a focus on reducing regulatory barriers to greater innovation and service improvement," Mr Samuel explained.
